I am writing this to warn others trying to sell items. I listed an engine for sale on this webpage and had it listed on the Smokstak a few months ago, but removed it before listing here.

I did not advertise it on Smokstak with my phone number.

I got a message via text from a buyer with a 412 area code. I had to ask his name, because he did not offer it up at first. He asked what my final price was, and I gave it to him. He messaged back saying he would take it.

Ok great! He tells me he will send a certified check. Ok that's cool.

The next day he says that the check was sent...But... his assistant wrote it for more than I asked for by mistake, and that I should deposit the check and when the transportation arrives to pick it up that I should just give the driver the balance.

RED Flag!! I have not received the check as of yet and I will refuse it!

This says SCAM all over it.

He said the check will be delivered by courier. Why not mail?

I checked the mans name and he is not listed as a club member or a registered member of Smokstak.
